Windows 7 Phone Unleashed!

Time: 9 AM to 4 PM
The Program:
Part One: We will go through half a day or slightly more of both lecture and hands-on labs that take you through building a Windows 7 Phone application from the ground up. The day will start with an overview of the platform and tools. After this we will build an application together that incorporates many of the important features of the phone platform including the following:
• Discussion of Tools and Marketplace
• Connecting to Services
• Isolated Storage (and other storage options)
• Working with Push Notifications
• Launchers & Choosers
• Saving State
• Camera Capture
• Microphone and Keyboard
• Location Based Services
• And more
Part Two: In this part, you may work individually, or form teams of your choosing. You will build your own Windows Phone 7 application based on what you learned in Part One. Two Windows 7 Phones will be available to test on, but you can also test on the emulator in Visual Studio. At the end of the day three winners will be chosen by a panel of judges.
Prizes: 1st Place : $500
2nd Place: $200
3rd Place: $100
Swag: A cool T-shirt, a copy of “Silverlight 4 Step by Step”, and maybe more.
The Details:
· New Horizons will provide some computers with Visual Studio 2010 installed, but you are encouraged to bring your own laptop. If you bring a laptop, be sure that it has Visual Studio 2010 installed. If you use the New Horizons computers, you MUST bring a flash drive to save your work.
· Your app belongs to you, and you can market it through Microsoft (we’ll tell you how).
· Lunch will be provided.
· Seating is limited to 50. If more than 50 people sign up, you will be placed on the waiting list. (You still might get lucky on the day of the event.)
